He's the original sexbomb
An interesting and anthropological (in the Nanny Diaries sense) afternoon diversion is reading the comments on the cat macros on I CAN HAS CHEESEBURGER. An uninteresting and regrettable afternoon diversion is watching The Lady in the Water. It's like there are three good very different movies that have been put in a blender together and all the interesting, intriguing, original stuff has floated to the top and been filtered off. In less metaphorical terms, this movie is boring. Also: dear M. Night Shymalan - don't get self-referential within a fairy-tale unless your hero is actually going to be the prodigal kid or the loner old man. You just wind up looking like a hack You know what, never mind. The damage is done.

The best song in the history of essay writing.
I've had this song on repeat for two hours and I'm still going strong. It is the secret weapon of essay writing.

Screw all y'all haters; I happen to think Jenna Fischer's dress is FIERCE. Okay not really, but it's totally better than people are making it out to be and she definitely does NOT deserve to be on the worst dressed lists. Did you guys MISS Vanessa L Williams?!? She skinned a muppet!

HOT NUNS XXX
You know what I realised last night?
Starting to get into panic mode about all the upcoming assessment on top of new job. On the other hand, there's a ball on tomorrow, which means cheap wine, Bon Jovi cover bands and barely edible food. Man, I love the science ball. (That sentence previously read 'Man, I love balls' until I decided that I wasn't going to leave that one open.) It's especially great this year since I don't have to buy a dress! (Although I do really want to buy some shoes..I'm thinking glittery silver or gold because I'm all class.) I love having an event to buy things for and then try to fit them into your daily life...like getting a bob cut because of a Sixties themed 21st and then having to live with constantly straightening and styling the damn thing. Also, I spent about $50 in Diva yesterday on shiny things. I really shouldn't be allowed to have an income, but I'm surely glad I do!

Good GOD girl, eat a sandwich! Although I kind of love her dress, but it looks terrible without boobs without any actual body mass.

My attempts at preventing Essaygate 2 (Assignment Writealoo) are being thwarted by the temperamental hussy that is the university's new fabulous! crabulous! journal catalogue which is currently pitching a tanty like a two year old in a candy store. I'm going to take it as the universe's way of telling me 'organisation and time preparation is for losers!'

The Office series three starts on free-to-air tonight at 10.45 PM like what is WRONG with you, Channel Ten? Not even the Schrutemeister himself would stay up for that! I suppose they're guessing that the Californication crowd are going to stick around for it afterwards, but it should really be the other way around. WHATEVER, just keep it on the air this time, bitches! To alleviate the tension, I present, a Gratuitous Office Clip:

23rd-Aug-2007 04:52 pm - What a week...
T-Rex can work it
I started out this week feeling like total crap...and here at it's I still feel like total crap. But at least I'm total crap with a shiny new prospect. On Tuesday I skipped classes to enjoy the absence of my mother (who has been driving me CRAZY but more on that another time) and got a call from a property management company I'd applied for a position for on the previous Friday offering me an interview. On Wednesday, I did the interview, which was equal parts exciting and terrifying, since I'm terrible at judging how those things go (i.e. always the opposite of the impression I get). Which means that all day today I've been angsting about it, especially when I missed a call from a 'private number' on my phone. Until half an hour ago, when that number (I'm guessing!) called again and it was the recruiter.

Guess who got the job?!?

Now to convince my mother (seriously, more on that later) that the proper way to celebrate is not with aqua aerobics but something more...celebratory. Like a shopping spree for corporate wear!

Oh Rox, you so crazy! The only thing I love more than you is that the scary vampire chick is named 'Mina Harker'. *gigglesnort*

Health update: Still not feeling quite myself. It's like when your computer keeps popping up 'error' messages that don't make sense or refer to any particular error. I'm functioning, but some kind of error is going on.
10th-Aug-2007 04:49 pm - Ode to the week
Woobie Darcy
Man, this has been a crappy week. I can't shake this cold, my ovaries decided to rebel against their current habitat and wage war on me, job hunting is just depressing, my mother returned and declared that every aspect of my life is inadequate and oh yeah, both my grandparents are dead so their estate has to be split between three siblings who can't stand each other any more. My timetable this semester is completely inflexible. Although I have two days off, they're at opposite ends of the week and the rest is jam-packed with classes that I can't afford to miss so half the positions out there I am unable to apply for since I can't do the hours. Plus I'm completely apathetic about EVERYTHING. Maybe it's a post-Harry Potter ending slump combined with grief and general return-to-real-world-including-uni-after-overseas-holiday gloominess, but I'm starting to wonder whether it's not a symptom of something more sinister. Because I'm not just being overly descriptive, I'm pretty sure my ovaries really ARE trying to kill me. I have a doctor's appointment next week; hopefully answers will be forthcoming. Of course, he's going to try to force me to have those HPV vaccines...

The other important lesson I learned this week was to be careful when taking your parents to see a Judd Apatow movie. I thought I was taking my 'fun-loving, still young enough for pop cultural references to be relevant' parents to see 'Knocked Up', but it turns out I'd left the house with 'middle-aged fuddy duddies who can't handle a movie in which the word "fuck" is exclaimed more than three times (without an exploding car/building/city as context) and for whom the premise being based on an occasion of drunken casual sex is morally iffy'. Also my mother wouldn't let us buy choc tops.
